This is How the Top Content Creators Think
There’s a reason why they’ve been so successful.
There are only 35,000 YouTube channels with over 1 million subscribers. With more than 114 million active YouTube channels, these represent less than 0.03% of the world’s creators.
Over the past 365 days, I’ve watched a lot of YouTube — 90 days worth of video, to be exact.
I’ve noticed these three things about the top content creators at that time.
Wait, why should I learn from YouTubers?
We’re writers, after all, right? So what could we possibly learn from YouTubers?
First of all, the mentality that we should only learn from the top people in our field needs to be updated. We should all aim to have some understanding of how other fields operate. This is what it means to have T-shaped knowledge, where the vertical bar on the letter T represents the depth of skills in a single field, and the horizontal bar represents our ability to collaborate across disciplines.
There will always be something to learn from other disciplines. So, let’s take a look at lessons from top YouTubers and see how this could be applied to our writing.
